Veteran actor Michael J. Fox was in rare form this weekend, as he took it back to 1955 with his Marty McFly rendition of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode". The Hill Valley High alum, who traveled through time and alternate versions of the past and future in the beloved Back to the Future trilogy, hosted his annual charity benefit at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel. Called "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Cure Parkinson's," the event in New York City featured plenty of big names and performances, but none of them could hold a candle to Fox rocking the big tune.
Donning the identical red guitar he played in the school dance scene in the first film, Fox simulated playing the music, while real musicians did the actual performing. But surprise, surprise — Fox pulled out the classic for the crowd. Interestingly enough, he learned how to play the song sometime after the first film wrapped and he continues to play the song today, impressing us all with his skill and determination. All he needed to do was come out riding a Hoverboard and we could die a happy death.
