Resembling something out of da Vinci’s notebooks, German engineers at e-volo have designed the first working manned multicopter, recording about 90 seconds of flight time with the contraption. Impressive in its simplicity, the vehicle seems rather dangerous, too—there is no enclosed cockpit, just a seat in the center of a grid of propellers, all controlled by radio from the ground.

Don’t expect to see this commercially anytime soon, though it looks a theme park attraction waiting to happen.
