It's official: Arrested Development will be back on air. Well, not exactly. Last night, Netflix reached a deal with Twentieth Century Fox and announced that they had scored exclusive rights to new episodes of the cult comedy, which will air in early 2013 and, according to Arrested creator Michell Hurwitz, will act as a lead-in to the upcoming film.

This news is particularly unique because Netflix (nor any other web entity) has ever landed a web-only format for a show with such a large (some might say rabid) following. And, consider Netflix's recent PR mishaps and now-notorious marketing failings, setting a high-profile precedent like this might be exactly what they need to re-vamp their tainted public image.
