As promised a few weeks back, id Software has released the official source code for Doom 3 to the public. Would-be programmers and low-budget game designers alike can get their hands on the code for no charge through the GitHub website.
The release of the source code had been held up for a few weeks thanks to the concern of the company’s lawyers but id-head John Carmack seems to have circumvented the issue(s) at hand. It has been 7 long years since Doom 3 was originally released and the game still looks phenomenal, so we cannot wait to see what the public does with this code.
