Is This Concept Art Of The Lizard From "The Amazing Spider-Man" Legit?

Even if it's not real, we certainly dig this retro design.

While the first three Spider-Man movies were some of the biggest blockbusters of all time, Marc Webb's reboot of the franchise, titled The Amazing Spider-Man, has really been flying below the radar recently. Aside from a few official pictures of Spidey's new costume and a brief teaser trailer, there has been very little revealed about the movie compared to competition like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises

But now, an interesting piece of art has surfaced online that Spider Media is claiming is a concept image of what the villainous Lizard (played by Rhys Ifans) will look like in the film. We're not entirely sure if this is the look that the filmmakers have settled on, or if this art is even real, but it's certainly an intriguing design.

First off, this version of the Lizard actually resembles a real lizard, as opposed to the dinosaur look that recent artists have given him. And for longtime Spider-Man fans, it also has more in common with the original Steve Ditko design from the comics that first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #6. Hopefully the final look of the character keeps the spirit of this grounded concept art and doesn't depend too much on CGI. Oh, and we certainly hope they throw a pair of pants on the dude too.
