Eddie Murphy Steps Down As Oscar Host

Following yesterday's resignation of Brett Ratner as the producer of the Oscars, Eddie Murphy is now stepping down as the host of the of the show. Ratner left his producing duties after a series of off-color remarks gained the ire of much of the public and his bosses, and apparently Murphy simply can't perform his duties if The Rat isn't behind the scenes. Murphy and Ratner recently just worked together on the film, Tower Heist.

In a statement on the Oscars websiteTom Sherak, the President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, said the following, "I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well."

In the same statement released by the Academy, Murphy stated, "First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."

So now the legendary award show is without a host, thanks to Ratner's unfiltered mouth and Murphy's apparent infatuation with him. The biggest question over the coming weeks and months will be, "Who will replace Murphy as the host of the show?" In our opinion, there is really only one solution: Snooki
