Michael Holt, aka Mister Terrific, has been a part of the DC Universe for over 10 years now, but he has always flown under the radar. That all changed after DC launched its "New 52" initiative earlier this year. Now, thanks to writer Eric Wallace and artist Gianluca Gugliotta, the character is the star of a new solo title complete with a rich supporting cast and a great roster of villains.
Mister Terrific is also currently one of the most high-profile African American superheroes in the DC universe, joining diverse costumed dogooders such as Firestorm and the new Aqualad. Add that on top of the fact that he is in an interracial relationship with Karen Starr, formerly known as Power Girl, and you have the recipe for a comic that is brave enough to break down ethnic boundaries.
In Mister Terrific #3, Holt finally finds out the identity of his wife's killer, but not before the killer discovers his secret identity. This is a great time to expand your comic book knowledge beyond just characters with pointy ears and red capes. Mister Terrific #3 will be available on Wednesday.
