If you'd like to play with a new Kindle first-hand before taking the plunge, look no further than your local AT&T store. For the first time, the wireless carrier's retail outlets will be selling Kindles— specifically the Kindle Touch 3G.
The Kindle Touch 3G relies on AT&T's network for its wireless data, but magically Amazon has arranged it so a data plan is not required. So just because you buy your Kindle from an AT&T store, doesn't mean you'll be asked to sign a contract. Data on the Kindle Touch 3G is free.
One step below the tablet-esque Kindle Fire, and above the new standard Kindle, the Kindle Touch is controlled via a capacitive, e-ink touchscreen and retails for $149.
