We present to you the first five minutes of Paul W.S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers for your home viewing pleasure. As expected it's pretty heavy on the action and the chutzpah. The beginning of this clip introduces us to the main characters: Athos (Matthew Macfayden), Porthos (Ray Stevenson), Aramis (Luke Evans) and Milady (Milla Jovovich). You may cringe at the thought of Anderson, a known genre director, tackling Alexandre Dumas' text, but the Resident Evil director promises that this is "exactly the story of The Three Musketeers," only told "in a slightly different way."

So that means we can expect D'Artagnan (played by Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman) traveling to Paris to hopefully join the group. And we'll still see the evil Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz) plotting against the King and Queen. But that may not be enough to convince the literati to watch the movie this weekend. The movie isn't exactly making cinephiles salivate with anticipation, so this bid to get asses into seats reaks of desperation on the part of Anderson and co.

Hopefully, what you see here will offer you enough incentive to decide whether you'll be getting out of the house or streaming it online somewhere. Memo to Orlando Bloom, you need to hire Ryan Gosling's agent fast or else end up as a typecast stereotype. The Three Musketeers opens in 3D today.
