Just in time for Season 2 of AMC’s The Walking Dead, Denver’s Esquire Theatre provides viewers with this classic Italian interpretation of the now-ubiquitous zombie genre. Originally released as Zombi 2, Zombie marked Italian director Lucio Fulci’s entry into the world of totally disgusting cinema. It’s not a sequel to anything, but it was obviously influenced by George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead franchise—and then some.

Fulci took the zombie game a step up with this film, with worms crawling out of eye sockets, horrible gougings, and an actual scene in which a zombie fights an actual tiger shark. The shark’s trainer played the zombie in the scene, so it’s pretty damn real. This is a cult classic in the genre, and it will get a Blu-ray release later this year; the Esquire screening is a new digital restoration
