Sprint Spent $20 Billion To Get The New iPhone

They "bet the company."

That's billion, with a "b."

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Sprint has gone and "bet the company" on Apple's all-powerful handset, ordering 30 million iPhones over the next four years.

That's indeed a huge bet, and could explain why the fourth place T-Mobile was not able to get into the iPhone club. WSJ says Sprint won't turn a profit on the deal until 2014.

Adding to the craziness of this news, BGR has gone on record with speculation that the real reason this deal cost Sprint so much money is because the company got an exclusive deal to launch the iPhone 5. We'll let them explain.
