Post-Outage, RIM Offering Free Apps

RIM looks to buy customer loyalty back.

After its impeccably bad timing, screwing the world over with its downed service as a new iPhone hit stores last week, RIM has some serious  making-up to do. And so, co-CEO Mike Lazaridis has announced that the company will be offering a selection of “premium apps” for free beginning on Wednesday, and lasting until the end of the year.

Only 12 apps will be made immediately available, with Sims 3, iSpeech Translator Pro, and Photo Editor Ultimate among those up for grabs. The options will reportedly increase over the duration of the deal.
