At the Web 2.0 Summit, Kevin Rose, the founder of Digg, previewed Oink, the first app to come out of his new company, Milk

"Oink is a platform to rank, compare, share, and discover things, not places," Rose explained to those in attendance. In essence, it's Foursquare for things. He then showed off a beta version of the iPhone app which featured a nice, clean interface and easy to recognize controls.

According to Rose, Oink will primarily be used to tell people what's good at a certain location, store, or restaurant. In doing so, it will answer three questions: "What's the best thing there?", "What have my friends tried and liked or disliked?", and "Where can I find the best..."

In its limited beta testing, Rose revealed that the two areas being rated the most were food and drinks.

There's no word on when the service will be available, but you can go over to the Oink website to sign up to be notified whenever that happens. Of course, we'll let you know, too.
