Nerdgasm: "The Avengers" Trailer To Make Its Debut On Tuesday

This should excite those who cannot make it out to New York Comic-Con.

None

With New York Comic-Con 2011 right around the corner, Marvel Studios didn't waste anytime stoking the fire for The Avengers. Word from on high is that the first trailer for the Joss Whedon directed epic will hit eyeballs the world over on Tuesday. This is truly going to be a test of Whedon's skills as a director! We know that he can handle dialogue and character relationships, as evident from his TV show Serenity, but does that translate into movie directing success? We will have to wait and see, but for now, the anticipation is massive to see what Earth's Mightiest Heroes will do on the big screen.

Since the movie is still seven months away, we can assume that the trailer will be more title cards and graphics than actual footage, but one can hope. More than anything, all of this is just wood for the furnace for when nerds and geeks from all over can see new Avengers footage on October 15 at the IGN Theater during Comic-Con! Be sure to check back here on Tuesday for the trailer and our thoughts on it as well.

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson and opens in 3D and 2D on May 4, 2012.
