Fox and Sony Pictures Television are teaming up to develop a half-hour comedy based on 2009's zombie action pic Zombieland, which starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Emma Stone. Does this mean that the undead are the new monster trend? If so, what were the old zombies back in the day then? According to Gavin Polone, one of the movie's producers, the transition should be a natural one since the zom-com was initially meant for the small screen.

Polone told The Hollywood Reporter that CBS originally ordered a Zombieland pilot in 2005, "but they did what networks do, which is to take all the good stuff out." Scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are writing the comedy which is being eyed for the 2012-13 broadcast season. A potential TV series would replace a big-screen follow-up. Since the film's stars, namely Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone, have gone on to become big names in Hollywood (and won't be a part of the series), maybe Zooey Deschanel could cameo since the project is headed to Fox?

What do you think? Who should be cast as Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock? Or would you rather see new characters? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
