Is it just us or could this double as a teaser poster for a Hideo Kojima-directed Metal Gear Solid live-action flick? When we posted the teaser trailer for The Grey last month, the image of seeing star Liam Neeson, after surviving a plane crash, getting ready to defend himself from a wolf attack had us at hello. Although the scene lasted less than three seconds real-time, seeing the Irish badass strap a bunch of shattered alcohol bottles to his knuckles would've made for a dope poster.
Instead, Open Road Films presents this bland and typical gangsta shot of Neeson. We have to say the wolf slap across the face is pretty hardcore, but it does make us think of what could have been. If you haven't seen the filler behind the hype, don't worry we got you covered, as you can watch the trailer embedded above. The Grey is about what happens when an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks are forced to survive the Alaskan wilderness as a vicious pack of rogue wolves are on their trailer.
Liam Neeson reunites with The A-Team director as The Grey also stars Dermot Mulroney, James Badge Dale, Frank Grillo, and Larissa Stadnichuk. Expect it to hit theaters on January 27, 2012.
