Spike TV is teaming up with Elextronic Arts to promote the launch of Battlefield 3 and they may give us a front row seat to some hilarity in the process. The two are teaming up to bring Battlefield 3: Operation Gridiron to television this Fall. The show will place NFL stars Drew Brees, Clay Matthews, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jared Allen in real-life combat scenarios inspired by the game and see just how well they can stand the heat of the battlefield (pun intended).

All 4 stars were taken to a top-secret location and given hands-on combat training by various members of a couple of elite special forces outfits. Following their training, the group will have to put their skills to the test and function as a combat team in a series of simulated operations. The first episode of the program launches today as a webisode and subsequent episodes will be aired on the official Battlefield Facebook page.

Spike TV will air the finale on October 24 at Midnight (EST and PDT, 11:00PM CST). Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to see just one of the guys break down in the moment of battle and revert to the fetal position when their squad needs it the most. It isn’t likely to happen, and if it does it certainly won’t make it to the air, but we can dream can’t we?

Battlefield 3 launches on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 25, 2011.
