It seems that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies just can't catch a break... or keep a director. Craig Gillespie (Fright Night) is the third director to bail on the Seth Grahame-Smith film adaptation, which is now stumbling around Hollywood like a brainless undead creature hungry for brains. The helmer has had issues with locking in a stable cast with actors such as Emma Stone, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, and James McAvoy being highly considered but declining.
So, now the search for a director and casting continues on for Lionsgate. In Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Seth Grahame-Smith's novel mixes the 1813 Jane Austen classic with a legion of bloodthristy zombies. To us, it comes as a surprise that Gillespie dropped out, considering how dope the remake for Fright Night was. That filmed showed us that he could handle blending horrorifying suspense with humor.
It's a headscratcher for sure, but Lionsgate now has to restrategize how they'll go about creating this project. With zombies seemingly the new craze going into 2012—will Pride and Prejudice and Zombies get itself together just in time to please their dedicated fanbase?
