After THQ Brisbane was one of two studios in Australia that closed its doors, rumors began circulating that a video game adaptation of Marvel Comics' The Avengers was in the works. Apparently, the project ceased development, and it's anyone's guess as to what the game's current status is. Somehow a video showing the game in its pre-alpha stage surfaced on YouTube over the weekend and we have it for your viewing above.

The Avengers game is a different take on the first-person genre, as you can see a set list of moves for Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and The Hulk. From this angle, it looks like gamers will have so much fun smashing enemies as The Big Green Guy or hovering while shooting enemies as Iron Man. While it sucks that THQ Brisbane is no more, we wouldn't mind beating the stuffing out of a few thousand Skrulls.

Could this give us any indication of what to expect from Joss Whedon's big blockbuster? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
