After much speculation, Samuel L. Jackson is officially attached to play house slave Stephen in Django Unchained. This marks the fifth time audiences will be seeing Jackson collaborate with director Quentin Tarantino on a project. The film, which stars Jamie Foxx in the titular role, is about a freed slave who teams with a German bounty hunter to fight an evil plantation owner to retrieve his long-lost love.
The controversial filmmaker has been breaking tradition and decided to work with almost entirely new troupes of actors. Leonardo Dicaprio will play the sadistic slavemaster Calvin Candie; Christoph Waltz, who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Inglourious Basterds, will portray the German bounty hunter; Kevin Costner is Ace Woody, a slave trainer who works with Mr. Candie; and Django's wife has yet to be cast. Former Deadwood star Gerald McRaney has also boarded the project.
Production on Django Unchained begins early next year in New Orleans, and is scheduled to piss of fans of PC on December 25, 2012.
