Rumor: Faster MacBook Pros Coming Very Soon

Is Apple planning a speed bump for their heavyweight portables this month?

None

With Intel's next-generation Core i-series chips not scheduled to find their way to computers until the middle of next year, sources close to Apple Insider are saying Apple will update the current MacBook Pro line of laptops with slighty faster Intel Sandy Bridge processors.

The source suggests the update could happen sometime before the end of September, but defintiely before the Holiday shopping season gets into full swing.

Intel updated its Sandy Bridge processor line last week, introducing new 2.4GHz, 2.5GHz, and 2.7GHz quad-core Core i7 processors, and a 2.8GHz dual-core Core i7 processors, all of which would replace the chips currently used in the 15 and 17-inch MacBook Pros.
