WHERE: 30th Street Station, Philadelphia, heading to NYC via Amtrak
WHEN: August 26, 2011

Jumping on the Acela to get to NYC for work, and I run into this fucking guy. Unbeknownst to most of the the world, Mark and I grew up together in Lakewood, New Jersey. I bore witness to the birth of Ecko Unltd. on countless denim Lee suits, freight trains, and school endorsed art projects as a teenager. I sat in Ecko's New Brunswick warehouse in the early '90s when they were selling zillions of Roots t-shirts, but still couldn't cover the rent. I also was part of the design consultation, and was the original DJ for the now legendary hourly Ecko runway hows at Magic in Vegas from 1997 to 2001.  Clearly, since you are reading this on HIS website, we are a long way from those days, and all the better for it. Mark and his sister, Marcy, were also two of the most consistent supporters of Lakewood's basketball program, leading our school Pep Squad from the stands for my entire high school basketball experience. Proud of this dude, on some "the homie done made it" shit, and really happy to be a small part of the Ecko empire to this day.
