Justin Timberlake may keep telling us that he's "not trying to be a serious actor", but his recent movie-moves seem to be saying something different. Timberlake has just signed on for the lead role in Spinning Gold, a seemingly serious biopic based on the "rags to riches story" of Neil Bogart, a famous 1970's record executive behind KISS,Donna Summer and The Village People.
Timberlake will also snagging additional credits as a feature producer, and will be producing the biopic with both of Neil's sons, Timothy Scott Bogart (who also wrote and will direct the film) and songwriter/music publisher Evan “Kidd” Bogart, along with TV producer Gary Randall.
Tim Bogart claims the movie was "three decades in the making", primarily because his father's shoes were large ones to fill, but “when Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years.” Bogart believes Timberlake has "the exact same energy as [his] father, the same glimmer in his eye.”
Timberlake's new project will make its way into theaters before the end of 2012. There will be also an album produced by Boardwalk Records that will coincide with the flick, but there's no word on whether the artist formerly known as JT will contribute a track or two.
