Their story must be told.
It all began on a Wednesday afternoon, when three 19 year-olds decided that a 30-pack of beer was so necessary to their lives they would do anything to get it. Anything, in this case, became The Great Tecate Heist of 2011. When it was all said and done, the Los Angeles Timesreports that Andy Huynh, Nicholas Kalscheuer and Nicholas Fiumetto were all arrested and charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest.
The boys hit up the Baja Ranch Market, where Fiumetto and Kalscheuer went inside to get the beer while Huynh played getaway driver. The two Nick’s snatched the Tecate and attempted to make a break for it, but not before employees gave chase. Kalscheuer was apprehended first (most likely screaming, “THE JOINT CAN’T HOLD ME!”), but Fiumetto hopped in the car with the stolen goods and sped off with Huynh. Cue shit getting real.
In an effort to escape the parking lot, Huynh nearly mowed down an employee who had jumped onto the hood of the car, before eventually slamming into the curb and sending the employee flying into the air. Still determined to escape, the boys fled on foot. Fiumetto hopped a fence and dipped into the nearby Citrus Car Wash, but a cop was already waiting at the end of the car wash tunnel. Pepe Pinedo, manager of the car wash, called the spectacle “a nice show.”
While Huynh was smart enough to take off in the other direction, he was still dumb enough to leave his ID in the getaway car. After making it relatively easy for police to find him later in the day, he turned himself in. All that action and the trio didn’t even come away with the beer.
Regardless, this was a live comedy and action movie. If only there were video…
