Instagram Gallery Opens In London

Amateur hour.

None

The notion of calling oneself “an artist” has always been wildly subjective. For some, it requires a certain eye. For others, a certain mastery. And for others, just Instagram.

No longer willing to settle for the likes of Tumblr, Instagram users in London have deemed their quick-snap photography worthy of gallery viewing. They’ve gathered their work for an exhibition, “My World Shared,” exploring the Instagram format, which opens October 22nd.

On one hand, the gallery show speaks to the devotion and popularity of the app for its simplification of photography yet intriguing sense of perspective in making picture-taking so accessible. On the other, it just might be a collection of really shitty pictures.
