In a slick new marketing move, HBO has dreamt up a truly inventive way to promote the upcoming second season of Boardwalk Empire: a vintage NYC subway car.
HBO will be channeling the 20's in the most authentic way possible, using a Metropolitan Transportation Authority train from 1917, formerly on display in the Brooklyn Transit Museum, for its newest promotional plans. But nostalgia doesn't come cheap. According to the Wall Street Journal, HBO will be paying the MTA $150,000 to run the Prohibition-style train on its tracks for just four weekends this September.
If you're like us, and you want to ride with the likes of Nucky and the gang (whose images will be plastered inside the interior of the train), grab your MetroCard and hop on the 2 and 3 lines between 42nd Street and 96th streets, and peep the new Boardwalk Empire-inspired ride.
And if you're lucky, you might even ride free, because HBO will be doling out MetroCards to the masses compliments of Nucky himself.
