Much ado has been ballyhooed about the first photo of Johnny Depp in Dark Shadows, the next hightly-anticipated film collaboration between him and Tim Burton. Our initial look at Depp as vampire Barnabas Collins showed him in crazy heavy white makeup, which had many fans thinking he was a blood-sucking Michael Jackson. These official photos (complete with proper lighting and coloring) look to alleviate those aforementioned fan fears.

Courtesy of Empire, we have two new snaps, and one features Depp getting his Nosferatu on, with blood all over his clawed hand. The other shot finds Tim Burton directing Michelle Pfeiffer (Elizabeth Collins) and Jonny Lee Miller (Elizabeth's "ne'er-do-well" brother Roger Collins). Both flicks are once again likely to raise a stir, which finds Depp's Barnabas go from inveterate playboy to nightstalker after breaking the heart of a witch (played by Eva Green).

For those hoping that this isn't a continued catastrophe in the vein of Alice In Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fans will rejoice that Dark Shadows won't be filmed in 3D. Good ole' fashioned 2D for the win!

Dark Shadows opens in theaters nationwide on May 11, 2012. Share your thoughts about the pics in the comments section below.
