Fare Cap Lifted, Maybe D.C. Cabbies Won't Be So Angry Anymore

They were mad. But will they still be?

None

There was mention of it months ago, but today D.C. Taxicab Commission Chair Ron Linton made his decision to lift the $19 fare cap on taxicab rides within the city official today.

Via an order in the D.C. Register, it was announced that the cap would be done away with within the next two weeks, honoring Mayor Vince Gray’s promise. Although Linton admitted that they haven’t decided what fares will be fair to both drivers and passengers, you can expect them to rise.

This might appease pissed of D.C. cab drivers for the moment, but we still wish you the best of luck catching a cab late at night.
