Amazon's full-color Android tablet, reportedly called the "Kindle Fire," is real and will be revealed in a press conference tomorrow by CEO Jeff Bezos. Yay?

By now, we can all smell the growing pile of putrid corpses left rotting at the foot of the Alpha and Omega that is the iPad. That companies keep lining up for this race to the bottom is getting a little disconcerting. Here's GDGT's Ryan Block on Amazon's new tablet after getting the scoop on the device from a source.

"I'm told that this first tablet of theirs is "supposed to be pretty poor" and is a "stopgap" in order to get a tablet out the door for the 2011 holiday season -- which doesn't exactly leave the best taste in my mouth."

Despite its name, the Kindle Fire was not designed by the Kindle team and was instead reportedly outsourced to the same Chinese company that made the Blackberry PlayBook for RIM. Yikes.

At any rate, let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We'll get a much better prognosis for the Kindle Fire when it makes it's official debut tomorrow. Maybe it'll be great! Maybe it'll put the iPad 2 on notice! Maybe?
