After the DreamWorks drama The Help stirred up controversy and box office bucks, Viola Davis is now looking to head to the small screen in a new untitled half-hour HBO series. Sundance breakout director Dee Rees (The Pariah) and writer-producer Margaret Nagle are negotiating to pen the story, with Rees looking to helm the project.
According to Variety, the show is focused on the corruption of a city seen through the eyes of the headmaster of an exclusive prep school. Davis would star as the show's lead. Most of the details are not detailed, but Paramount Vantage president John Lesher is on-hand to serve as an executive producer, alongside Davis and Nagle.
Up next for Davis will be the Paramount drama Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which stars Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock, and hits theaters this Christmas.
