Every game needs a villain. Whether that's Bowser, the undead or simply gravity, it doesn't matter as long as the villain plays its part. Without them, games would have no variety, no conflict, and no challenge.

Real life is different. We have our share of villains, too, and they're even scarier than their virtual brethren—especially when their ire is aimed at gaming. They lie to the public, belittle gamers and generally make our lives miserable.

Fortunately, we still have hope that good will ultimately win over evil—after all, Australia's finally got its R18+ rating, Jack Thompson's been disbarred and Leland Yee's California gaming legislation was shot down.
