LulzSec Hackers Leak Police Data

Hackers get their revenge for their fallen leader.

Following the arrest of one of LulzSec’s chief hackers, AntiSec hackers made a show of solidarity by leaking 10 gigs of data from 50 police departments nationwide.

A similar leak occurred in June, only exposing personal information of hundreds of Arizona police officers due to the state’s controversial immigration law. This time, the hackers snuck onto a server that contained over 70 different law-enforcement associated sites—once they had access, they publicly released emails, credit card numbers, passwords, addresses and social security numbers of over 300 officers nationwide.

What gives the story an added layer of intrigue is their seeming ability to multiply in droves when one of them falls. Typically, legal prosecution doesn’t give birth to such bizarre and startling retribution—all of which is of course non-violent.
