Of all the post-Stankonia material that has been associated with OutKast and its Dungeon Family associates (including the very talented Killer Mike and the by-now-annoying Cee-Lo Green), Big Boi’s release from last year, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, is by far the best.

Keeping the unstoppably funky bounce that made 'Kast stand out from the rest of their Southern peers, Big Boi stepped everything else way up: the hooks, the interludes, the incredibly dense lyrical syntax. “I’m shittin’ on niggas/And peein’ on the seat,” he declared on “Shutterbugg,” the disco-leaning track that employs crisply phased guitars, Hammond organs and vocoders—and that’s all before breaking everything down into a chorally arranged shout-out to Soul II Soul’s 1989 single “Back to Life.” It’s that sort of hat-tipping combined with extreme braggadocio that makes Big Boi one of the most entertaining MCs around, and here you’ll get to see the man perform at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco, where The Roots, Girl Talk, Major Lazer and a whole lot more will also be appearing.
