When EA Sports announced the return of NBA Jam to consoles last year, old school gamers like ourselves couldn't wait to get our hands back on Seattle Supersonics legends Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp. The Glove's strong perimeter game and Reign Man's dominance in the paint made them one of the most formidable teams during the classic NBA Jam: Tournament Edition. If you're a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 owner, look for the dynamic duo to be available for download in your respective digital marketplace this October.

Due to licensing issues, Kemp and Payton weren't included on the first go-around. But now everyone out there looking for more alleys and less oops, can enjoy the Seattle Supersonics' return as a one-two punch DLC for hyper-competitive folks like us. Hardcore gamers will also enjoy three new modes: Jam Now, Road Trip, Arena. The first mode allows four players to play online in unranked gameplay. The second is a co-op online campaign, which allows both players to play on the same team, and get credit and experience as they progress through each stop. The final online mode is set to scratch that competitive itch and is a dynamic online tournament that gets more difficult the higher up you go.

Thankfully for gamers, we can relive the early ‘90s NBA entertainment, as NBA Jam: On Fire Edition will be available for download this October for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
