After yesterday's announcement that Laurence Fishburnewill play Perry White in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, Man of Steel, Warner Bros. released the first image of Henry Cavill as the the titular superhero. The movie costume appears to be heavily influenced by the classic outfit of the comics more than Jim Lee's redesigned look, which is set to debut in September's DC Comics relaunch.

With Supes sporting the coif made famous in the movies by Christopher Reeves, Snyder is committed to breaking the mold with his take on the "Man of Tomorrow" tale. The image finds Superman in a much darker, ominous environment than we're used to seeing. It's iconic, yet modern, and does a great job of depicting the fact that he's a super-strong being.

Man of Steel opens in theaters on June 14, 2013 and also stars Amy AdamsMichael ShannonKevin CostnerDiane Lane, and a host of others.

Do you think fans will embrace this version of Superman? Or will they nitpick the suit, the superhero S-curl, and the overall tone of Snyder's film based on this one image alone? Share your thoughts below.
