It looks like you can add another shrimp to the action-adventure BBQ known as The Expendables 2. The first film brought us such badass luminaries as Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Jason Statham on-screen at the same time. The sequel looks to kick it up a notch by adding John Travolta, Chuck Norris, and Donnie Yen. The team representing the latter has confirmed that Yen has been offered a role.
While there's no official word on what part he'd play, we're hoping that this comes to fruition. You can just imagine a three-way battle between him, Jet Li, and possibly Jean-Claude Van Damme at the same time. Also, it wouldn't be like it is Yen's first time sparring with Li on the big screen; the pair have traded punches and kicks in such films as Once Upon a Time in China 2 and Hero.
Yen has serious skills and would help to tip the badass-o-meter off the charts with his addition. Don't believe us? Stream IP Man and IP Man 2 on Netflix and tell us that utilizing his talents for the screen are, ahem, expendable.
The Expendables 2, which also features the return of Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and Randy Couture, will blow up theaters on August 17, 2012.
