Last Wednesday, August 24, a number of blue flags used Twitter and other social media websites (Friendster, we see you) to arrange a "Crips Holiday" in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. But the NYPD was paying attention.

At around 7:30 p.m. the NYPD showed up at Amersfort Park and arrested 56 people, most of them dressed appropriately for such a holiday. A pistol was discovered on one of the members.

This comes as part of the City's new juvenile justice unit, which will heavily track social media to fight crime. A conference on the subject will be held for law enforcement officers in September in Dallas. The conference is called “Social Media, The Internet and Law Enforcement.”

The acronym for this is "SMILE."

Have a great day.
