Earlier this summer, a report surfaced that Bruce Willis was at the top of the wishlist for a certain role in G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. There's been no official word — until now. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who will play Roadblock in the action-adventure, posted on his Twitter account on Saturday, "Welcome brother Bruce Willis to the cast of GI Joe! What an honor." Although Paramount Pictures hasn't confirmed the casting, the rumor on the e-streets is that the Die Hard star will play the original Joe, General Joe Colton.
Do you think the studio is upset with The Rock for smelling what he's cooking and leaking the news on Twitter? While we're sure that the former WWE star is just psyched to share the screen with a bonafide action legend, casting Willis isn't as strange as it may sound. He is more than capable of playing tough and battle-worn, plus Brucey has had more than enough practice wielding big scary (prop) guns.
Directed by Jon Chu, the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra stars Channing Tatum, Johnson, Adrianne Palacki, Ray Stevenson, Joseph Mazello, Elodie Yung, Walton Goggins, RZA, Ray Park, and Byung-hun Lee. The film will be in theaters on June 29, 2012 and starts filming in New Orleans next month.
