Arthouse Alert: See The Endlessly Quotable "Army of Darkness" In Boston This Weekend (8/12-13)

The final chapter in Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" trilogy.

None

Sam Raimi’s epic Evil Dead trilogy is still one of the most groundbreaking zombie/undead stories in modern cinema, combining a childlike love for special effects, an incredibly campy approach to horror, and the charisma of Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, the unwitting hero who just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to battling the undead. In this installment, Ash ends up traveling back in time with his trusty shotgun to recover the Necronomicon, the infamous book of the dead. While not as impressive or amusing as the first few installments — probably a result of Raimi’s newfound status as a more Hollywood-friendly director — this closing chapter of the trilogy is still a whole lot of fun, and a perfect midnight movie.
