While testifying before parliament regarding the cell phone hacking scandal that has engulfed News Corp., Australian billionaire Rupert Murdoch became the target of a hair-brained attempt at the old pie-in-the-face routine.
A British anarchist and comedian known as Jonnie Marbles (nee Jonathan May-Bowles) brazenly and calmly approached Murdoch while he was seated before a House of Commons Committee and attempted to shove a pie-tin filled with shaving cream in his face.
Murdoch's wife Wendi hurled herself toward the attacker as others nearby apprehended him. Committee members watched with mouths agape from their chairs.
Reportedly, Marbles called Murdoch a "greedy billionaire" just before he made his move. On Twitter, he foreshadowed the incident with the following.
"It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat"
This is the most fun we've had watching the proletariat attack a high profile old white man since they threw shoes at G.W. Bush.
