With the hot new MacBook Airs finally seeing the light of day this morning, Apple has decided to officially dead its original MacBook line. The company is no longer selling the entrylevel MacBooks, which were distinguished by their white plastic enclosures. Now, the $999 MacBook Air is the baseline laptop available from the Macintosh maker.

Since the introduction of  the Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, Apple has mainstreamed its more specialized notebooks to the point that the MacBook just seemed unneccessary. For now at least, there are just two paths to take for Apple users: Air and Pro.
