The 50 Best Movie Dialogue Samples in Hip-Hop

44. Mac Dre Samples Pulp Fiction

Song: "Back 2 My Mission" Remix (2002)

Cheeseburgers usually don't get a lot of play on rap records, what with The Fat Boys' career (sadly) long over and KRS-One easing back on the aggro vegetarian stance. On the "Back 2 My Mission" Remix, however, things begin with talk of Quarter Pounders, which most people will recognize as Quentin Tarantino speak from Pulp Fiction (1994). Specifically, it's the scene in which hitmen Vincent (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) pay a (threatening) visit to some of their boss' Marsellus Wallace's associates.

"Royale with cheese" is the first thing we hear coming from Vincent, which, of course, is the answer to the question: "What do they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?" Jules then asks the nervous Brett (Frank Whaley), "Do you know why they call it that?" to which Brett replies, "Because of the metric system?" Jules is halfway impressed. "Check out the big brain on Brett," he mocks him. "You a smart motherfucker. That's right. The metric system." Admittedly, this is kind of a bizarre choice of dialogue to be sampling, but then again big Mac Dre was all about his cheese, y'know, the cheddar. Plus, he does stop at a burger spot in the final verse of this story rap.
