The NPD video games sales figures are in for June 2011 and for the second straight month L.A. Noire has earned the top slot beating out the debut of the critically-panned Duke Nukem ForeverinFamous 2 took the third place position, which is impressive since it’s a PS3 exclusive title.  Video game software and hardware sales are down year-over-year, but looking ahead it’s clear that the numbers have a decent shot at bouncing back before year’s end.  With Gears of War 3, Batman: Arkham City, RAGE, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim all set to release in the back half of the year, it’s hard to imagine the gaming industry not kicking ass in 2011.
