Apparently, even trying to leave Hollywood means that you'll still be alluring to its residents. Joaquin Phoenix, fresh off his self-imposed exile from the movie industry, is reportedly attached to star in a new, untitled collaboration between director Spike Jonze and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).
The multiple Academy Award nominee was rumored to be involved with Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar and Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter last year, but, instead, he signed on for writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson's (There Will Be Blood) new film, The Master. For Jonze and Kaufman, Phoenix, will, according to Twitch, play a "world leader who meet with others in secret to pull strings and plan major events."
If you've managed to see Jonze's Scenes From The Suburbs short, then you know that Jones never does anything easy or safe, nor does Kaufman. We're officially excited.
