We guess all that talking Billy Bob Thornton has been doing recently finally paid off. The Los Angeles Times is reporting the hiring of two screenwriters, Johnny Rosenthal and John Phillips, who will have their scripts compete to become Bad Santa 2. The winner's winning witty manuscript will have their screenplay fast-tracked for Christmas 2012 release. Meanwhile, the second place winner's material will be folded into another potential sequel.

With director Terry Zwigoff not on-board, any new Bad Santa writer will have to fill the big shoes that original writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa left behind. The scribing duo should take heed that in competitive battles, "no one remembers second place."

Our suggestion to finding a winner is to have a battle-to-the-death writing war with Summer Glau as the referee.
