Mark Zuckerberg went for an Apple-esque tease and reveal for the rollout of a new Facebook product next week, but it looks the game has been spoiled. Reports that the new feature, which Zuckerberg would only refer to as, "something awesome," is actually a partnership with Skype have been confirmed by both TechCrunch and Mashable.

The Skype deal will all but certainly add a much welcome video chat component to Facebook Chat and could also include a desktop element. Skype, of course, is in the process of being acquired by Microsoft and Facebook and Microsoft have had a close partnership ever since the software giant purchased a 3 percent stake in the company back in 2007.

Facebook's official announcement goes down next Wednesday. We'll have the details.
