Ask any college kid, past or present, what one of the most financially taxing parts of university life is, and we're sure they would place textbooks right at the top of the heap.Amazon wants to help alleviate the stress by offering students the opportunity to rent digital versions of textbooks for up to 80% off the list price. All you have to do is go to Amazon's Textbook Store, search for the book you need and see if there's a Kindle version available for rent. If there is, you just put in the amount of time you need to rent it (30 to 360 days), and it's yours. Well, temporarily.

Like all Kindle books, you'll be able to read your textbooks on any Amazon Kindle device, as well through Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 Kindle applications. The notes and annotations you make while renting the book will also be available on all platforms and will remain yours even after your rental has expired.

To reiterate: less bulk to carry around campus and more money in your bank account. Any questions?
