Fans of animation vet Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack) have long revered his unique talents, yet they've rarely been seen off the small screen. According to Variety, however, all that is about to change in a monstrous way, as Adam Sandler, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, and a host of others have joined the voice cast of Hotel Transylvania, a new 3-D animated comedy that Tartakovsky will direct.
The official synopsis finds Sandler voicing Dracula, the owner of the lavish "five-stake" resort Hotel Transylvania, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling human disruption. In addition to being the Prince of Darkness, Dracula is also a dad. Overprotective of his daughter, Mavis, Drac makes up tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous ways. But then an ordinary guy stumbles into the hotel and takes a liking to Mavis.
The rest of the voice cast also includes James as "Frank" (a.k.a. Frankenstein); Fran Drescher as Frank's in-your-face and larger-than-life Bride; Buscemi and Molly Shannon as Wayne and Wanda, a pair of married, harried werewolves; David Spade as the Hunchback, formerly of Notre Dame and now a crazy gourmet chef; Cee-Lo Green as Murray, an entertaining Mummy; and Andy Samberg as Jonathan, a 21-year-old "regular" guy, whose world travels land him at the hotel.
Hotel Transylvania is scheduled for release on September 21, 2012.
