Warren Beatty's 1990 film Dick Tracy opened the Los Angeles Times-sponsoredHero Complex Film Festival yesterday, and the 74-year-old screen legend showed up to talk about the crime romp and drop hints about a sequel.

Three months since emerging victorious in his lawsuit against Tribune Media Services over the film and TV rights to Dick Tracy, Beatty's entertaining 90-minute Q&A found him cautiously commenting on adapting Chester Gould's legendary comic strip for a second time. "I think it's dumb to talk about movies before you make them," Beatty told the audience. "I just don't do it. It gives you a reason to avoid making them." That was before he commented, about another Dick Tracy pic, "I'm gonna make another one." So there you have it.

Beatty directed, produced, and starred in the big-budget action film, which grossed nearly $163 million, making it the highest money-earner of his career to date. The impressive cast included stars such as Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, and Madonna.
