The suits at Warner Bros. apparently didn't get the hints about their underwhelming Green Lantern flick. Despite the DC Comics adaptation's subpar rating on Rotten Tomatoes (26% on the Tomatometer), the studio is ignoring all naysayers, with plans for the next GL adventure already underway.
How does one spend $300 million to make a CGI spectacle and only bring $53 million back in its opening weekend? That screams "sequel," right? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. will follow-through with their tentative plans to shoot a second and third installment back-to-back.
Over the weekend, Green Lantern fell a steep 66% at the domestic box office, bringing in $18.4 million for a grand total of...$89.3 million. Yet, Dan Fellman, the president of domestic distribution at Warner Bros., still believes in Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). At least someone does.
